Two French provincial style accommodation rooms are available for your comfort. Each room has French doors that open to a private garden allowing a chance to relax and unwind with a glass of wine on your outdoor setting of wrought iron table and chairs.

Minutes from Beechworth, among chestnut groves and berry farms, you can’t help but be pulled in by this charming, custard-coloured, wisteria-fringed pub. Built in 1854 and beautifully maintained, its rustic timber interior, open fires and shelves bursting with house-made comestibles create a relaxed, cosy feel. You could opt for a Stanley burger and local craft ale in the leafy beer garden but warm hospitality, an excellent wine list and bistro classics cooked with care, flair and imagination make it easy to settle in the sun-drenched dining room and linger over lunch. Smaller dishes might be pea veloute with kaiserfleisch, twice-baked Milawa chevre souffle or scampi on ribbons of dill-flecked zucchini ceviche and roast garlic aioli. Spicy roast quail, Puy lentils, orange segments and pour-over tomato broth show the chef’s delicate touch. Feeling hungrier? Go for grilled New York sirloin and fries. To finish, will it be Myrtleford buttermilk panna cotta or Stanley pear tarte tatin with that glass of Pennyweight Gold?
